Warm. Grounded. Self-Aware. And Subtly Therapeutic.
Online Therapy for High-Achievers and Perfectionists Facing Burnout, Exhaustion, and The Pressure to Keep It All Together.
Welcome to KMV Therapy and Consulting, PLLC. I’m Kelsey McVey—a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Anxiety & OCD Specialist, and Recovering High-Achiever — I’m really glad you found me!
If you found my site, then you may be juggling anxiety, perfectionism, and the pressure to hold it all together. You’re likely seen as the strong, capable, and ‘has it all together’ one, while on the inside you feel overwhelmed, burned out, or unsure how much longer you can keep pushing. You might also be in the middle of a major life transition: a career change, parenthood, a relationship shift, or simply the unsettling feeling that life is changing faster than you can keep up. Sitting in that uncertainty can feel uncomfortable and lonely.
Therapy is a place to breathe again. It can help you quiet the nonstop mental to-do list, reconnect with who you are beyond achievement and find clarity about what comes next. With support, practical tools, and a new perspective, it is possible to feel grounded and more like yourself again.
My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and warm, with humor woven in when it helps make the heavy stuff feel a little lighter. This is a space where you can show up as your honest unfiltered self, explore what’s keeping you stuck, and build strategies that give you confidence and steadiness through it all.
You do not have to carry all of this on your own. This is your space to set things down, regain your footing, and move toward a future that feels freer, more balanced, and aligned with the life you want.
About Me
Experience, Training, and The Therapy Room
I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). I integrate these evidence-based approaches in a flexible, personalized way—always tailoring therapy to reflect each client’s values, relationships, and environment. My work emphasizes both skill-building and the bigger picture, because lasting change comes from addressing the whole person, not just the symptoms.
With over a decade of experience in clinical social work and behavioral health, I understand what it means to perform under pressure while trying to keep up with your personal life. I know the toll it can take on your wellbeing. At Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, I provided intensive psychotherapy, built treatment programs for anxiety, and supported healthcare professionals on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic. These experiences gave me a deep appreciation for the unique stressors that come with demanding roles and high-stakes environments.
I bring this perspective into therapy with clients who are navigating burnout, life changes, and the constant pressure to keep achieving. My approach helps you step out of survival mode, regain balance, and reconnect with yourself so that you can show up fully—not just in your career, but in your life.
